Evidence map / Baseline version 0.2Keep the claim beside the evidence.
Eight separate propositions. For each: its current scope, supporting mechanisms, challenges, missing pieces, and conditions for revision.
The statuses below are the authored version 0.2 baseline. Later changes require an edited release; this record does not update automatically.
H01Geometry may be fundamental
Conceptual priority claim; no distinguishing fundamental model Geometry may be prior to, or jointly determine, the matter and field descriptions used in physics.
Relevant support
- Carroll’s general-relativity reference formalizes a dynamical metric coupled to stress-energy. This establishes a physical role for geometry, not that geometry existed first.
- Jaffe’s Casimir analysis describes geometry-sensitive electromagnetic interactions without requiring an independently extractable vacuum reservoir. It supports a local geometry–interaction connection.
Challenges & constraints
- Van Raamsdonk’s theoretical work explores classical geometry emerging from quantum entanglement in a specified setting. It illustrates a competing explanatory ordering; it is not a demonstration that geometry is never fundamental.
- A geometry-first formulation can be observationally equivalent to another choice of variables. Equivalent descriptions do not decide ontological or temporal priority.
What is missing
- A definition of priority: historical ordering, fundamental degrees of freedom or mathematical economy.
- Dynamical equations recovering established relativistic and quantum results, plus a prediction that is not merely a coordinate or variable change.
What would change this assessment
- A coherent explicit model that recovers known limits and predicts a reproducible independent observable would support that bounded model.
- A failed required benchmark or proof of observational equivalence would constrain the proposed physical claim.
Next step: Specify one fundamental-state proposal and derive one measurable consequence. Treat the oscillator as a local modeling example, not that derivation.
Version 0.2 assumes geometry-sensitive coefficients. Assuming that connection in a toy model does not establish the priority claim.
H02Patterns and rules may recur across scales
Limited scale relationships established; universal recurrence untested Different scales may share a specified mathematical organization beyond visual resemblance; the strongest version asserts repeated shapes and dynamics throughout reality.
Relevant support
- Mandelbrot’s coastline work establishes a framework for statistical self-similarity and fractional dimension over relevant descriptions.
- Tong’s statistical-field-theory treatment explains universality and scale-dependent effective descriptions in defined regimes. Shared behavior need not require identical microscopic mechanisms.
Challenges & constraints
- The WiggleZ and Hogg galaxy analyses find an approach to large-scale statistical homogeneity under their stated selection and measurement assumptions. They challenge unbroken fractal scaling across the measured interval.
- Buckingham’s dimensional-similarity framework requires comparable dimensionless variables and governing relationships. Arbitrary image rescaling does not meet that standard.
What is missing
- A fixed transformation relating named systems, observables and parameter units.
- A declared interval, eligible system class and failure tolerance that are not selected after viewing the apparent matches.
What would change this assessment
- One mapping predicting independent systems and response changes would support a limited shared relationship.
- A robust crossover or failed transfer would reject the specified range or mapping; it would not erase every narrower scaling relationship.
Next step: Freeze a dimensionless statistic and mapping, then evaluate held-out systems against resolution- and selection-matched alternatives.
The toy model’s L⁻² rule is selected in advance. Reproducing its inverse-length frequency is an implementation check, not evidence that nature uses the rule universally.
H03Interactions can leave usable information
Established for particular carriers; unrestricted persistence unsupported Earlier interactions can leave a physical record that influences later behavior, with possible retention through specified transformations.
Relevant support
- Keim and collaborators review multiple demonstrated forms of memory in matter, with specific write/read mechanisms and limits.
- Bennett’s reversible-computation construction shows how deliberately retaining distinctions can preserve computational information. It concerns an explicit procedure, not all uncontrolled transformations.
Challenges & constraints
- Conserving an energy amount does not uniquely preserve a configuration or an accessible message. The field and energy references distinguish physical state from its scalar energy value.
- Landauer and Bérut link a defined erasure operation to thermodynamic accounting. Their work does not establish a universal memory reservoir or retention of personal memories in energy.
What is missing
- A carrier, encoding, decoder, retention interval and named transformation for each wider claim.
- Controls for leakage, environmental records, passive relaxation and measurement-induced changes to the record.
What would change this assessment
- Blinded content-specific recovery after a prespecified transformation, reproduced independently with leakage controls, would support that retention channel.
- Chance-level decoding or a conventional external record accounting for the result would defeat the particular retention interpretation.
Next step: Use a bounded random-message or history-label benchmark and measure recovery under stated delays and transformations.
The toy model explicitly contains a scalar record and therefore demonstrates its consequences by construction. No material carrier or experiment has been identified for this particular law.
H04Reality may be adaptive
Universal extension untested; local adaptation has concrete examples A wider nested system may retain information and alter future behavior in a functional way across scales, beyond ordinary changes of state.
Relevant support
- Dillavou and collaborators demonstrate an engineered network with a specified physical learning procedure and assigned task.
- Alon and collaborators study robustness in bacterial chemotaxis; Perunov and collaborators analyze driven-system adaptation under defined statistical-mechanical assumptions. These are distinct mechanisms and scopes.
Challenges & constraints
- Passive relaxation, hysteresis and fixed feedback can generate history-dependent responses without learning a task. A stronger interpretation needs a controlled performance comparison.
- The cited local mechanisms do not specify a cosmic objective, retained state or environmental input. More dissipation or a more elaborate pattern does not establish improved performance.
What is missing
- A measurable functional criterion and a reason it is appropriate at the proposed scale.
- A physical update mechanism and predictions that differ from ordinary state-based dynamics or a resource-matched passive model.
What would change this assessment
- Retained improvement on predeclared held-out tasks, with causal disruption of the responsible state, would support a local adaptive mechanism.
- Failure to outperform passive controls would narrow that mechanism; local success alone would not confirm universal learning.
Next step: First compare trained, passive, frozen-parameter and random-update systems on an independent task. Develop a cosmological extension only after defining its observables.
Version 0.2 has no objective or error-driven update. A changed oscillator response is structural memory, so this release does not demonstrate learning.
H05Our universe may belong to Alpha 1
Conceptual parent-system hypothesis; no accessible coupling specified Alpha 1 is a hypothetical parent system containing our universe and many others.
Relevant support
- Popławski supplies a theoretical parent–child cosmological precedent with explicit torsion-based assumptions. Publication of that scenario is context, not evidence for Alpha 1.
- Feeney and collaborators show how one multiverse-related scenario can be connected to a restricted observational signature. Their analysis did not establish other universes.
Challenges & constraints
- A causal horizon or the unknown total extent of our universe does not imply a surrounding container. NASA’s horizon explanations distinguish observable reach from a physical wall.
- A parent system with no observable consequence is empirically indistinguishable from its absence within the proposed test. That limitation is not positive evidence for the parent.
What is missing
- A definition of universe membership, parent and child states, a metric or other distance rule, and causal access.
- A coupling with a numerical signal prediction and parameter range that existing data could constrain.
What would change this assessment
- A unique, internally consistent prediction with independent observational support could favor a specified parent-system model over named alternatives.
- A null result would exclude only the coupling and amplitude range requiring a detectable signal, not every imaginable parent universe.
Next step: Define one mathematical parent–child relation and derive one observable inside our domain before selecting astronomical anomalies to explain.
The oscillator has no cosmological variables or parent coupling. Its success, failure and parameter choices do not update the empirical status of Alpha 1.
H06Alpha 1 may have a center and organized spiral
Conceptual structure; no measured center, rotation or parent flow The hypothetical parent system may possess a physically defined center, rotation and an outward spiral organization.
Relevant support
- Galactic dynamics provides real examples of angular momentum and spiral patterns. Lin–Shu density waves and Grand’s simulations also show why pattern motion and constituent trajectories must be separated.
- These are local astrophysical comparisons. Neither paper observes an Alpha 1 center or derives a universal outward spiral.
Challenges & constraints
- Standard homogeneous cosmological expansion has no preferred spatial center; NASA’s explanation does not describe an explosion from one origin into external space.
- Saadeh and collaborators constrain specified anisotropic expansion modes. A proposed parent-induced signal must be translated into the actual constrained observables, not compared with an unrelated universal rotation number.
What is missing
- An invariant center definition and distinction among spatial arrangement, matter flow and pattern speed.
- A dynamical model, conservation statements and an accessible signal linking the proposed parent organization to our observations.
What would change this assessment
- One predeclared directional relationship recovered in independent probes, and better explained by the model than conventional effects, would warrant further study.
- A signal following survey selection or an upper bound below a required model amplitude would reject that version or parameter range.
Next step: Specify a flow or metric and derive the sky signature before interpreting the conceptual explorer’s center or rotation.
The explorer’s plotting origin and spiral are illustrations. The dimensionless oscillator’s L is a relative local length and cannot calibrate Alpha 1.
H07Geometry might permit new routes
Exploratory travel claim; no new transport capability demonstrated A deeper physical description might allow trajectories or connections beyond familiar travel mechanisms, subject to consistent dynamics and resource constraints.
Relevant support
- Relativity supplies physical geodesics within a specified metric. Gao, Jafferis and Wall construct theoretical traversability in a special coupled-boundary setting, without violating causality.
- Electromagnetic field momentum permits ordinary radiation-pressure propulsion. Propellantless operation is therefore distinct from isolated reactionless thrust.
Challenges & constraints
- Fewster’s treatment gives quantum energy inequalities under stated assumptions; negative-energy requirements cannot be assigned freely without checking the applicable bound.
- Tajmar and collaborators found no anomalous EMDrive thrust in their tested configurations after addressing false-positive effects. That constrains those claims and illustrates the required artifact controls.
What is missing
- A candidate spacetime or force law, realizable source, stability analysis and explicit route or net-force prediction.
- Complete energy and momentum boundaries, including controllers, supports, fields and radiation.
What would change this assessment
- A reproducible intermediate effect with a discriminating model and independent apparatus would support a bounded new claim, before any extrapolation to travel.
- An effect explained by ordinary momentum exchange, sensor drift or omitted resource costs would reject the proposed extraordinary interpretation.
Next step: Choose one measurable intermediate prediction and compare it with established trajectories or complete force-accounting baselines.
An oscillator moving back and forth is not a propulsion demonstration. Version 0.2 supplies neither a spacetime metric nor an isolated thrust prediction.
H08Conscious experience may connect to deeper organization
Philosophical or undeveloped physical extension Conscious experience may relate to a more fundamental organization of information or physical processes; a universal connection remains an additional proposal.
Relevant support
- Seth and Bayne map scientific theories connecting experience to particular processes and causal structures.
- The Cogitate Consortium’s 2025 study compares specified predictions of integrated-information and global-workspace theories. Its challenges to tested predictions do not establish fundamental or cosmic consciousness.
Challenges & constraints
- Zurek’s decoherence account explains relevant system–apparatus–environment dynamics without inserting human awareness as an established physical cause.
- A shared information measure, energy requirement or network shape does not establish shared subjective experience. The oscillator’s scalar record has no consciousness observable.
What is missing
- An operational claim distinguishing conscious content, conscious level, report, attention and generic information processing.
- A mechanism and prediction that differ from named alternatives; otherwise the positions may remain empirically equivalent.
What would change this assessment
- A preregistered discriminating prediction supported by appropriate independent data would bear on that precise model.
- If all outcomes are accommodated unchanged, the proposed comparison cannot decide the philosophical claim.
Next step: Write a prediction table for a bounded phenomenon and identify what existing measurements could discriminate before extending the interpretation to cosmology.
This model and its visualizations make no claim to instantiate, detect or quantify conscious experience. Universal-blueprint language is not substituted for a missing mechanism.
